The Basics.

The basics of crystal healing layouts correspond directly to the 7 chakras.  The colour representing the chakra is normally the colour of the crystal you want to use. There are a few exceptions to this ie golden stones and clear stones are used for the crown chakra, the heart chakra uses pink and green and the base chakra has red ranging through to black but this will be explained later. Firstly, if you are not familiar with the chakras and their colours, they are as follows:

CROWN                                7th

THIRD EYE                           6th

THROAT                               5th

HEART                                  4th

SOLAR PLEXUS                  3rd

NAVAL/SEXUAL               2nd

BASE                                     1st

THERE IS A MINOR CHAKRA IN LOCATED BOTH HANDS AND BOTH FEET

The corresponding chakras, their aspects and colours and a suggestion of crystals to use are as follows:

This is not a closed list by any means. There are many other stones that would be appropriate and you should be guided by your own intuition.  This will be discussed later.

Now I've got all the descriptive, reference stuff out the way, the practical side can start!

You can either do a seven chakra layout or focus on just one chakra when a problem has been identified in one area. However, you will probably find where there is a blockage in one area neighbouring chakras/ physical effects will be encountered.

Example: When deep emotional hurt has been experienced (HEART CHAKRA) and you find it hard to express your feelings, or, it results in lack of self-love and  feeling worthless, or, the inability to feel positive about the situation, you will probably find that the SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA may have a problem ie experiencing butterflies when going back to the same situation, digestive problems, unable to focus on your goals. Also, if you haven't been able to express these feelings and bottled it up, there will be a blockage between the HEART AND THROAT CHAKRAS. As this continues, further chakras will become effected.

You will find with a person who has experienced this that not only are they complaining of physical manifestations but their aura is depleted. By unblocking the chakra, and using healing energy to clear/ re-energize all the chakras, the aura will slowly be repaired. This may take more than one session!

 (Sorry, more technical, waffley stuff)

Don't try to pre-determine which stones you will use before talking to the person you are treating. Wait until they are relaxed and comfortable before intuitively choosing which crystal to use. After talking to them, you will have a good idea which chakras are involved. You can use a combination of stones over each chakra.

Example: Deep emotional trauma resulting in a feeling of worthlessness and anger: I would choose the cooling green effects with the loving pink power of watermelon tourmaline as a central stone over the HEART CHAKRA. Either side of this I would use ROSE QUARTZ for its power of self-love and gentle healing it has by bringing comfort and peace thus allowing that person to start receiving and giving love again, rather than putting up giant steel barriers against the world. Above and below I would put clear quartz single terminates with the terminations pointing away from the chakra to help start communication and release of pent up emotion.
I would place Peridot over the SOLAR PLEXUS. (BUT IT’S GREEN?) Peridot has wonderful healing powers and since green contain both blue and yellow, we can utilize the yellow to help understand and resolve the trauma experienced and the blue to start communication and so healing. As I said earlier, you can use other crystal groups on each chakra to bring about clearance and solutions.

If you feel that the barriers built up around the HEART CHAKRA are hindering the healing process, place BLACK TOURMALINE WANDS to break up the negativity. Lay them so they are pointing diagonally away from the central stone towards the arms and legs, so channeling the negativity away.

You could also use Rhodochrosite. It’s swirls of peach, pink, orange, yellow and white make it a perfect stone for the Solar Plexus, it’s colours linking the heart chakra with its pinks, it’s orange and yellow to the solar plexus and the yellow to the naval. This stone has wonderful powers of teaching you to allow love in and to love others. It is a very strong stone so be vigilant in observing the effect it has. It can clear blockages in a dramatic way. (not quite as drastically as watermelon tourmaline but more so than rose quartz).

Confused?

To put it simply, the crystals you choose should be done intuitively. A layout may contain hundreds of stones by the time you have finished. The order of removal and length of time you leave them on should be something you do intuitively or as they effect your “patient”. And, if you feel that a stone belonging to another group is appropriate or has the properties you want to draw on then use it. There are no hard or fast rules to this. In fact, there are only 3 “rules”:

1)       Protect yourself before starting anything

2)       Limit the treatment time to a MAXIMUM OF 15 minutes initially

3)       Stop immediately if you or your “patient” feels that it is wrong or uncomfortable

Don’t be surprised THAT if the crystal is wrong for that patient (ie its vibration frequencies etc)  it “falls” off the patient.  the crystal will know before you do!

As with most layouts, you need to channel the healing energy through the body from the crown to  base chakra. The only times that this is different is if you are working on a particular chakra (see Emotional Trauma Layout using Watermelon Tourmaline) This is done with two single terminates: 6 inches max in length. Any bigger would be the equivalent of using dynamite to demolish chipboard! The terminate above the crown chakra is usually clear quartz crystal to allow the flow of golden light through the body. The terminate that starts over the base chakra can be what ever seems right: clear quartz to allow golden light into the chakras, Black Tourmaline to break up negativity and to ground, smokey quartz to ground…… whatever feels right! You slowly move the terminate up over each chakra, terminate pointing obliquely towards the crown but terminate towards the chakra. Project healing energy through the terminate into the chakra, feel it heal, unblock, release, resolve before moving on until you meet up with the crown terminate  On finishing, complete the breathing exercise to blow away the cobwebs and to ground and give time for your “patient” to gather their thoughts…. And express feelings and emotions. Make sure that following any layout, you  cleanse your crystals so they don’t record the trauma they have helped to clear and become dis-programmed.

After all that doom and gloom of healing  and clearing blockages, it’s not all bad news… You can do layouts just to re-energize at the end of the day or to reach out to the astral plane and know much joy!

But this section is about the basics and it is where all other techniques start from
